For organizations implementing blockchain technology or decentralized databases, 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors include new Intel® Crypto Acceleration, increasing the performance of encryption-intensive workloads up to 1.48x faster vs. prior gen with built-in Vector AES-NI, Vector CLMUL, Intel® Secure Hash Algorithm Extensions, VPMADD52 instructions, and RSA/DH encryption protocols.
3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors also deliver crucial new security technology that can help you better protect your datacenter. Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) enables new ways to collaborate using shared data without compromising privacy. It offers hardware-based memory encryption that isolates specific application code and data in memory, helping protect up to 1 terabyte (TB) of code and data while in use.
Intel® Total Memory Encryption is another security feature that ensures all memory accessed from the CPU is encrypted such as customer credentials, encryption keys, and other personal or IP information. This full physical memory encryption supports further enhances data and VM protection.
And Intel® Platform Firmware Resilience (Intel PFR) thwarts any attempt to compromise or disable the platform’s firmware to intercept data or take down the server by using an Intel FPGA to protect, detect, and correct, providing NIST SP800-193 firmware resiliency.
3. 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms with the new Intel® Optane™ persistent memory 200 series augment memory capacity and accelerate data
The Intel® Optane™ persistent memory 200 series is Intel’s next-gen security-enabled, reliable, persistent memory module. It provides up to 6TB total memory per socket and native persistence in 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms to help extract more value from larger datasets and increase agility with fast access to more data closer to the CPU. The Intel® Optane™ persistent memory 200 series delivers an average 32% higher memory bandwidth vs. prior gen.
It can be configured in Memory Mode for more VMs and more memory per VM at a lower cost or App Direct Mode for improved performance in applications that require lower latency such as SQL Server, live video, or graphical analytics computations.
4. 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms and Intel’s next generation storage portfolio boost cache speed and storage capacity and endurance
3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms with Intel’s next generation storage portfolio gives organizations the flexibility to choose the right configuration for any workload. Thanks to PCIe Gen 4 support, Intel’s next generation storage portfolio sets milestones with Intel® Optane™ technology and the industry’s first 144-layer triple-level-cell (TLC) NVMe and quad-level cell (QLC) NAND flash.
Used to cache and tier the hottest data to higher-performance storage, Intel® Optane™ SSD P5800X flash is the world’s fastest SSD, significantly improving HDD and traditional NAND storage performance and overall storage endurance. Intel® Optane™ SSD P5800X flash delivers 40% lower average latency, 50% better Quality of Service (QoS), 4x greater random 4K mixed read/write IOPS, and 67% higher endurance vs. prior gen.
Used in dense storage environments, Intel® SSD D5-P5316 QLC NAND high-capacity flash, available in 15.36TB and 30.72TB drives, delivers up to 1 petabyte of storage in just 1U of rack space on 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms. It outperforms HDDs and accelerates access to data by 25x. With 5x higher endurance, 2x better sequential read performance, 38% improved random read performance, and 48% better lower latency than prior generation Intel® QLC NAND flash, Intel® SSD D5-P5316 QLC NAND flash’s unique form factor can also help reduce a data center storage footprint by up to 20%.
By adding an Intel® Optane™ SSD P5800X flash cache tier to Intel® SSD D5-P5316 QLC NAND high-capacity flash solution in an Azure Stack HCI environment, organizations can increase overall storage performance, endurance, and workload responsiveness in hyperconverged infrastructure, database, VDI, and content-delivery applications.
Intel has also stepped up NVMe flash performance. Intel® SD D7-P5510 NVMe flash offers optimized performance and capacity, low latency, enhanced management capabilities, scalability, and critical new NVMe features for enterprise and cloud environments. The new NVMe flash solution delivers 2x higher sequential read performance, 50% lower latency, and a 50% increase in mixed workload IOPs (70% read, 30% write) vs. prior gen Intel® SSDs.
5. 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms with Intel® Ethernet 800 series adapters offer next generation connectivity with up to 100Gbps per port
Supporting both PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4 across a variety of port counts to meet the needs of almost every workload, Intel® Ethernet 800 series adapters increase network data throughput up to 200 Gbps per adapter on 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms for high-performance vRAN, NFV forwarding plane, storage, HPC, cloud, and CDN.
Intel® Ethernet 800 series adapters offer powerful features including Application Device Queues (ADQ) that prioritize application traffic to help deliver the performance required for high-priority, network-intensive workloads, and Enhanced Dynamic Device Personalization (DDP) that uses the fully programmable pipeline to enable frame classification for advanced and proprietary protocols on the adapter. All of which, increase throughput, lower latency, and reduce host CPU overhead.
Intel Ethernet 800 series adapters in 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms support RDMA over iWARP or RoCEv2 protocols and NVMe over TCP with ADQ for high-throughput, low-latency Azure Stack HCI clusters.
