This May, the Cloud & Data Center Conference in Germany featured two days of presentations on the latest trends and development in data center, virtualization, security, networking and IT infrastructure technologies. DataON and XCES were platinum sponsors for this event and the Hyper-V Community + Hybrid Cloud Community pre-day event. Well-known speakers from this year’s event included Cosmos Darwin (Senior Program Manager, Microsoft), Alessandro Goncalves (SSD Solutions Architect, Intel), Thomas Maurer (Senior Cloud Advocate, Microsoft), and David & Cristal Kawula (President and Microsoft MVP, Tricon Elite Consulting). During the event, DataON hosted a panel discussion with partners from Microsoft, Intel, and Rachfahl IT Solutions to share real world experiences in designing and deploying Azure Stack HCI solutions and how to leverage the latest technology innovation within those solutions.
Much of the discussion between panelist and audience members centered around when customers should choose a 2-tier, 3-tier, and/or flat al-flash design. Carsten Rachfahl (Rachfahl IT Solutions) noted that he likes a hybrid 3-tier design because it’s a good balance of performance and capacity, providing the most flexibility for customers. Alessandro Goncalves (Intel) recommends Intel Optane SSDs for the cache tier in a 2-tier design so you can fully leverage the performance and low latency of Intel Optane SSDs. Cosmos Darwin (Microsoft) says every configuration works and that the beauty of software-defined storage is that customers can adjust their design based on their production workload. Watch the panel discussion. At the DataON & XCES booth, Joost Dubbelman (Technical Engineer, XCES) demo’d the DataON K2N-108 hyper-converged appliance. As a validated Microsoft Azure Stack HCI solution, its entry-level price and density-optimized 1U rack form factor makes it ideal for small-to-medium sized businesses seeking an all-NVME flash and hybrid cloud ready solution with unrivaled performance, resiliency and scalability. But the star of the show was the new DataON Kepler-47 G2, a 2-node hyper-converged appliance for small-to-medium sized businesses, remote/branch offices, edge and IoT. This low cost, small-sized appliance in a mini tower form factor is portable and takes up as much space as a desktop computer. Despite its small size, it’s still able to provide integrated compute, network and storage infrastructure as a validated Azure Stack HCI solution.
DataON has deployed over two hundred Microsoft HCI clusters, providing years of expertise and experience to help you configure and choose the perfect build for your workloads.
