Microsoft is expanding Azure Local with new deployment models: external SAN support and disconnected operations via a local control plane.
For current customers, your existing Azure Local pricing does not change: $10 per physical core per month, or included with Software Assurance, as long as you stay on existing capabilities.
If you choose to modernize with the new features, updated pricing applies:
- External SAN (disaggregated or hyper‑converged): $20.10 per physical core per month
- Disconnected operations: variable pricing
These new features also come with additional monthly service fees for Software Assurance customers.

Azure Local offers a free trial for the first 60 days after registration. You will be charged the monthly service fee after your first 60 days using the service.
*If you are a Windows Server Datacenter customer with active Software Assurance, you may also choose to exchange core licenses to activate Azure Hybrid Benefit, which waives the Azure Local host service fee and Windows Server subscription. Azure Hybrid Benefit for Azure Local is available only for hyper-converged deployments with cloud connected management and no external storage.

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) enabled by Azure Arc is available at no extra charge when you use it on Azure Local with 2402 release and later (effective January 2025).
Windows Server subscription offers a free trial within the first 60 days of registering your Azure Local. You will be charged the monthly service fee after your first 60 days of using Azure Local.
Windows Server subscription gives you unlimited Windows Server guest licensing rights through Azure.
